We may have a couple more months before the cold weather really starts, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t get your heating situation in order right now. If you’re in the market for a new heating system this fall, you should take a look at ductless heating. Ductless systems have quite a few advantages that set them apart from other systems. Let’s take a closer look at some of those advantages now.
How Ductless Systems Work
First, let’s take a look at how ductless systems work. A ductless system always has at least two parts, one inside the home and one outside. The inside unit is installed in a single room, usually on the wall or ceiling, and is connected to the one outside by a conduit of power and refrigerant lines. Up to four inside units can be connected to a single outside unit. Each inside unit also has its own thermostat, which allows it to operate independently from the rest of the system. Ductless systems are heat pumps, which means that they can act as both heating and cooling systems. They do this through a part called the “reversing valve,” which allows them to reverse the flow of refrigerant through their systems.
Advantages of Ductless Systems
Ductless systems are prized for their energy efficiency. Their ability to act as both heating and air conditioning systems means they take up less space and cost less than two full systems. Since they don’t burn fuel to create heat, they are also more energy efficient than most traditional heating systems. With a ductless system, you can cut down on your home’s operating costs without sacrificing comfort.
