Nobody wants their comfort to be disrupted by a seemingly failing heating system. When you go to turn yours on only to discover that you have no heat, your first instinct may naturally be to call for repairs. We’re always happy to take your call and provide these services of course. However, there are a few factors you can check out yourself before giving us a call.
Sometimes there is not a problem with your system at all, and it’s just that the power is switched off. Perhaps you were having work done and the HVAC breakers were flipped off by accident. Make sure these breakers are in the “on” position and check your system again.
Does your air filter look particularly dirty? If it hasn’t been replaced in a while, it may be clogged and preventing airflow from passing through. Therefore you may notice heat, but a lot less power than normal coming from your system.
Look around your vents, grills, and air registers. Furniture or any other type of obstruction that may be in front of these could create issues for your HVAC system. Make sure there is nothing blocking your vents and grills, and that sufficient airflow is possible.
Your heating system should have a safety switch on or near it. Depending on where your system is located, this switch may have been bumped off by a family member, pet, etc. Be sure to check for this before assuming that you need heating repairs.
If you’ve checked all the factors mentioned above, and your heater is showing troubling symptoms, it’s time to call for a repair. For example, perhaps you are getting insufficient heating, uneven heating, or noticing cold air coming from your heater. These are all signs your system may not be working properly.
